This marks the start of the catch up posts for The Sewing Challenge. They should be appearing over the next week or two, depending how quickly I take pictures of everything and get the posts written.
For easter I made some little bunny plushes for a few friends. I made the pattern in Photoshop with circles and ovals, printed it on freezer paper, ironed the freezer paper to the fabric and traced it on. I pinned and sewed the bunnies before I cut them out to make it easier on myself. What can I say? I like easy.
The pattern is super simple. Just a big circle for the body, a slightly smaller circle for the head, and two long-ish ovals for the ears. You could even make this in Word or Paint. The only reason I used Photoshop is because it was the program I had open at the time.
The most time-consuming part fo these little bunnies wasn’t the sewing, but the stuffing. It probably took me five minutes to trace, sew and cut each one, but it took me a good ten minutes to get them nice and evenly plump. I am not so good at stuffing. Stuffing things up, yes, but just plain stuffing, not so much.
The middle bunny is actually made from the same fabric as my wired headband from last week. I have had that fabric for probably two years by now? But it’s only a remnant, less than a metre long, which means I have had a hard time figuring out what to do with it. I love it so much, so I’m real happy it’s finally getting used. The yellow and white fabric is leftover from a picture I made to go over our bed, and the checked one is an old (clean) handkerchief.
Yay for stash busting!
